Créé en 1795, l’Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales est riche d’une histoire de plus de deux cents ans, étroitement liée aux évolutions sociales, politiques, culturelles et économiques qu’ont connues la France et le monde durant cette période.
Aujourd’hui, l’Inalco est le seul établissement public d’enseignement supérieur au monde à proposer une offre de formation aussi diversifiée avec plus de 100 langues enseignées et plusieurs filières professionnelles.
L’Inalco accueille environ 9000 étudiants d’une centaine de nationalités différentes.

Created in 1795, the National Institute of of Oriental Languages and Civilisations has a rich history of over 200 years, closely tied to the social, political, cultural and economic evolutions that France and the world have experienced in this period. Today the INALCO is the only public establishment of higher education to offer such a diversified training with more than 100 languages taught and several professional branches. It has approximately 9000 students enrolled of about 100 different nationalities.
